How does one person use an app designed to be deleted? Sounds absurd, and quite confusing, but let’s face it: Hinge has a unique user experience that is totally different from other dating apps. Just a reminder, Hinge is the only app that seeks long term serious relationships between her uisers, making them get ready for their last first date.
To stand out, the app designed to be deleted, has two main concepts:prompts and standouts. Prompts are short questions that add flair and humour to a user’s profile on the other hand standouts are a list of one’s list of the most compatible matches.
Just like any other app that exists, once one downloads the app, it evidently asks for the contact details and info such as name, email, location and age. But the surplus is that it also asks for more details about the user which includes height, religion, political belief etc
But since Prompts and Standouts are what actually makes the app standout, let’s zoom on those features:
Prompts are the most crucial step in the signing up process. To make an account, you are under obligation to answer three questions which are displayed on the profile. Hinge gives you the chance to actually pick your questions from a dozen and you can change them at any time. These questions give a chance to open a conversation smoothly and to help people get to know each other before making any move to see whether they’re compatible with one another

Standouts: this feature basically shows who is most likely one’s type based on their prompts which is a very unique feature the app has. Everyday, Hinge generates a list of users tapping on the prompts will bring you straight to the answerer’s profile and that way it gives you access to your most compatible matches. One particular thing there is is that you can “Like” these people, you have to actually send them a rose. But Hinge only gives one free rose per week, so if the user has used the rose, they should purchase another one to send if they find someone they really like in the same week. All of this is done to actually make the user really think about the person they’ll send a rose to, be thoughtful and sure.

Always on its quest to be different from other dating applications, Hinge has lately announced that it will add a voice note feature on the user’s profile. Let’s note first that dating apps have not been using interactive media such as voice recordings and videos yet which makes Hinge the first dating app to use this feature on profiles. The CEO of Hinge, Justin McLeod, chose this feature specifically when he quoted” It’s one thing to go and take pictures of yourself, it’s another to really go and tell stories and show an interest that gets a conversation started. Giving people the ability to tell a richer story about themselves on their profile that’s not just a bunch of photos of themselves, I think, is where it’s going”. He also added that voice was a nice gateway to participate in richer media.
