Fruitz at the time of lockdown

In recent years, it has become more difficult to meet people. How do we explain that?
I’ll give you the short version but remember the world has faced Covid-19 and thus several lockdowns were put in place. While it was impossible to go out, dating apps have become the only way to meet people and get away from it all. And if the lockdown announcement was bad news for most of us, Fruitz probably did not see things the same way. It appeared as an opportunity for the app to increase their brand awareness in the mind of people.
And that’s during the second lockdown that Fruitz was the most mentioned in the media, probably because this one was harder for lots of people, already damaged by the first one.
The 2nd lockdown was announced in France at the end of October. The graphic below shows the trend, the numbers of mentions started to grow from November 2020 reaching 1 500 mentions in December and continued growing until March, almost reaching 2000 mentions. The mentions allow us to analyse the brand awareness.


Have a look ! From November 2020 to March 2020, the percentage of mentions had doubled, meaning that twice as many people talk about Fruitz, all media combined.

I was curious to know exactly where people talk about Fruitz the most during this period of lockdown. Out of 1505 mentions in December 2020, 1384 were posted on Twitter. I went through the posts and found out that people often Tweet about their experience on the app and the fruit they select and give feedback. Not only users talk about the app, but also magazines, lockdowns create the occasion to interest themselves to these apps, offering to Fruitz a free communication that enables the app to gather 5 million users in 2021.
Lockdowns has allowed Fruitz to be well established in the mind of people, and figures highlight this: In November 2019, all media combined, Fruitz was only mentioned 441 times, whereas the app was mentioned 1611 times in last October, meaning that people talk about the app 4 times more now than before lockdowns. That’s a real boost for the app that was still very new in 2019.
Lockdowns have created the occasion for people to start to interest themselves to the app. As the world worked in a slow motion, people had more time to discuss. If it was impossible to arrange real dates, many users, probably in a hurry to see each other, have arranged virtual dates. What about you? Did you arrange any dates during lockdowns?
